I agree that CPAC does an excellent job of covering the elections, as well as the political scene in general.
I doubt CPAC would participate in some pre-arranged interview of a "Joe Citizen" who turns out to be actually connected to the incumbent.
Sad that anyone would resort to that kind of ruse to make himself look good.

Excellent! I like CPAC too, they do seem to treat all parties fairly. Garth was caught with his pants down, and should have admitted it right out. Instead he is blaming it on his campaign manager, leaving her out to dry. He's a weasel, and the best thing the Conservatives could have done was kick him out. Too bad the Liberals aren't that smart.

Good for CPAC. Garth probably assumed that they would not do a follow up, knowing that the MSM isn't reporting a lot of embarrasing things that have happened to the Liberals thus far.
I never saw the story run on CTV - Turner's former employer. Just goes to show what happens when you get media and politicians sharing a cozy relationship of sorts. This is most certainly a story worth reporting for ALL the main broadcasters. This isn't a first time, unknown Liberal candidate. It's GARTH! The man who everybody knows by his first name.
We'll see which media outlets run this story and which don't in the morning.
And hopefully, after Oct 14, we'll hear the last from Turner - this attention-seeker has jumped the shark too many times to be relevant anymore.

From the eyes of the campaign, this was the most safe venue for what CPAC was trying to do. Only problem is that they got caught in their disingenuous plot. Garth is throwing Esther under the bus, but in reality he is the slime ball for going along with it. Garth could have easily piped up and said, "Lets go to the next house". She was just doing her job and will pay the price. As someone who works in Halton. I honestly hope this idiot doesn't get elected again. I appreciate VERY MUCH that CPAC takes there integrity seriously. How many times have we seen articles and newscasts by other outlets where we find out later that the "person in the crowd" they talked to had close ties to the party being discussed.
I have been keeping CPAC on the entire election, and probably won't turn it off. Good to see some organizations take journalism seriously.

No media outlet could ignore this exposed ruse. CPAC's credibility was put on the line here by Mr. Garth, they have to assure the public they weren't in on it. It's bad enough to do something like this yourself but to drag others in on it, make fools of others is quite another story.
To say CPAC is unbiased or biased is not a factor here. They've been forced to defend their credibility by someone who was less than honest with them.
Garth has really stepped in it and he should be man enough to go down alone and not drag others with him. That would be to his credit. Indefensible is impossible to defend. It's white flag time.

Not only are they now relying on orchestrated stunts to create false impressions, which is dishonest, this shows a fundamental lack of regard for the intelligence of Canadians and the media, which is shameful. Garth Turner, Stephane Dion's communications expert and adviser, thought he could put one over on us.
Well, he was caught.
In my opinion, Liberal desperation has been exposed with this stunt, as has Garth's propensity to lie and manipulate for personal gain.
Garth Turner, who claims to stand for integrity in politics, is a hypocrite of the highest order.

In regards to CPAC I have reviewed the entire profile for Halton.Here is my Honest imput about the overview. Perhaps Mr.Turner did something wrong with the interview.But so did Ms Raitt.CPAC filmed Main Street Yarn Shop in Milton that is owned by Mr.Keith Hesse's girlfriend Carolyn.Mr Hesse in on the board of Directors for the Halton P.C.riding Association.I urge you to search Keith Hesse on your Goggle or any other search engine. Mr Hesse was also present during the CPAC filming in the store looking at a sweater on the rack. I wanted to express my concerns of being honest and fair about all of the comments that have been posted on your blog. I Thank You for allowing me to expess my comments. Jayson

As I watched her segment in that shop your referring to, it was fairly obvious to me that she knew or knew of the guy or at least that he was a fellow conservative supporter. I got the impression they knew each other but not that they were trying too hard to hide it. I mean, it would of been awkward to go into a place like that for a coffee only to not be served for political reasons, but how often are people like that outside of Toronto? aheh.
I don't think she was trying to pull a fast one on us or anything, especially not to the same lengths as Garth.
I don't think you can compare the two. I think, I'll reserve the rest of my judgement for when the facts become more apparent. I'm certainly not gonna assume the worst of someone just because she MAY of made a similar mistake but on a much smaller magnitude.
For anyone who had watched the full segment, I would think the Conservative Candidate would still be the most appropriate out of the choices provided. I swear, the green candidate seemed like she wasn't entirely human or stuck in a weird new-agey trance of some sort. Yay for the environment and all but that lady was creepy.
I don't know, I'm just saying ms. Raitt is certainly the least likely to embarrass the population of her constituency, if at all. I also suspect she'll do a great job in the HOC. She just has the right sort of gusto.

Your video, and other copies on YouTube including my own, have been removed due to supposed "Terms of Use Violations". There appears to be no legitimate reason for this, instead it seems to be politically motivated misuse of YouTube's removal policy. This has happened before.
